Panopto to YuJa Migration

UPDATE #7- 6/01/23

Good Morning,

We wanted to provide an update on the transition to YuJa.  Panopto was delayed in getting our export file created, so the migration of our content from Panopto to YuJa is delayed by about a month.

All Panopto links will remain fully active and viewable during this transition.

After the migration, YuJa will begin converting all Panopto links in Brightspace to the corresponding YuJa link.  We will update you when this process begins.

This is a reminder that we are in the process of transitioning away from Panopto and to YuJa.  If you want to learn more about the transition or view the training recordings, visit https://services.chatham.edu/TDClient/78/Portal/KB/ArticleDet?ID=11732.

Please note at 5 pm EST on March 31, 2023; all CREATE access will be removed from Panopto. 

What does this mean?

  • It means you can no longer create content in Panopto after 3/31/23.  This includes video captures and uploads.
  • All your links to previously recorded Panopto videos will still be fully functional
  • All Panopto quizzes will still be fully functional
  • There will be no impact on current Panopto content – all current Panopto content will be available until May 31, 2023.
  • During the timespan from 3/31/23-5/31/23 all current Panopto content will be copied to YuJa (see reminder below for important details)
  • All Zoom cloud meeting recordings will now go directly to YuJa
  • If you need to make new video captures or upload media, you will need to do so in YuJa

REMINDER -- Please click the YuJa link on the Brightspace Nav Bar within any course or go to https://chatham.yuja.com and log in with your Chatham username and password to establish your account by 3/31/23.  You only have to log in to YuJa once to create your account.  This will ensure that your Panopto content is easily transferred to YuJa and associated with the correct user.

UPDATE #1- 2/13/23

To begin the transition we would like users to purge content from Panopto and establish their new YuJa accounts by 3/20/23.

1. Please log into Panopto (https://chatham.hosted.panopto.com) and delete unneeded videos.

2. Please click the YuJa link in the Brightspace Nav Bar or go to https://chatham.yuja.com and log into establish your account.

Dear Campus Community,

We are excited to announce this spring, Chatham University will partner with YuJa Enterprise Video to provide an all-in-one video experience to create, manage, discover, and share video content across devices. Chatham conducted two pilots with Yuja (spring 2022 and fall 2022), and based on pilot feedback and references from other institutions, the decision was made to make the switch.

YuJa will replace Panopto as the campus video capturing and storage solution. Due to contract terms, we must end our usage of Panopto at the end of March; therefore, we plan to turn off create-only access in Panopto on March 31, 2023. Users who need to create new videos will do so in YuJa after March 31st.

YuJa has many of the same functions as Panopto and some additional ones. Some of these features include: 

  • Zoom and Brightspace integration
  • Comprehensive analytics dashboard
  • Ability to replace just one PowerPoint slide within a recording
  • Quizzes that connect to the Brightspace gradebook
  • A web-based, desktop, and mobile recorders
  • HIPAA compliance
  • Auto captioning in multiple languages
  • Unlimited storage and viewing 

All Panopto content, including video quizzes, will be automatically migrated from Panopto to YuJa beginning March 31st. To make this transition as easy as possible, Chatham has engaged with YuJa to provide a white glove URL relinking service in which YuJa will replace all Panopto links within Brightspace with the new corresponding YuJa link.

Key Dates 

  • January 30, 2023 – YuJa launches and is available for use within Brightspace.
  • February 21, 2023 - Faculty and Staff Intro Training (Registration Link)
  • March 9, 2023 - Faculty and Staff Intermediate Training (Registration Link)
  • March 21, 2023 - Student Training (Registration Link)
  • March 31, 2023 – Panopto becomes unavailable for users to create new content
  • Spring/Summer 2023 - Content Migration from Panopto to YuJa (Panopto will still be available for viewing content during this time; however, all new videos must be created in YuJa). YuJa will complete URL relinking.  YuJa will replace all Panopto links within Brightspace with the correct corresponding YuJa link.
  • June 1, 2023 July 1, 2023 - All access to Panopto will be removed (UPDATED)
