Validate and Correct Your Course Roster
Faculty should compare the official course roster in Anthology Student with the Classlist in Brightspace to ensure students have the correct course access.
Anthology Student is Chatham University’s system of record.
The Brightspace Classlist must match the roster shown in the Faculty Portal.
The Validation Process
1. View
Open the official roster in the Faculty Portal. |

Open the Classlist in Brightspace. |
3. Correct
Add or remove students so the rosters match. |

1. View the Official Roster
Go to the Chatham University Self-Service Portal and select Faculty Portal Homepage.
Option A: View the Roster Through My Classes
- Select My Classes.
- Select Gradebook.
- Select the correct term. Most courses will be listed under Term 2.
- Select the course name.
- Select Midterm Grades.
- Review the students listed in the course.
Option B: Print or Save the Roster
- Locate the Classes tile on the Faculty Portal homepage.
- Locate the appropriate course and select the Print Roster icon.
- Open the class roster.
- Select Print Roster.
- To save a copy, select Save as PDF from the print options.
2. View the Brightspace Classlist
- Open the appropriate course in Brightspace.
- Select Communication from the course navigation bar.
- Select Classlist.
- Compare each student with the official Anthology Student roster.
3. Correct Any Differences
Student Is in Anthology but Missing from Brightspace
If a student appears on the official Anthology Student roster but is missing from Brightspace:
- From the Brightspace Classlist, select Add Participants.
- Select Add existing users.
- Enter the student’s name in the search field and select the search icon.
- Locate the correct student in the search results.
- Verify both the student’s name and ID before selecting the student.
- Select Student as the role.
- If multiple course sections appear, select any of the listed sections.
- Select Enroll Selected Users.
- Select Done.
- Return to the Classlist and confirm that the student appears.
Important: Verify both the student’s name and ID before enrolling the student. Students may have similar or identical names.
Student Is in Brightspace but Not in Anthology
If a student appears in Brightspace but is not listed on the official Anthology Student roster:
- Confirm that you are comparing the correct course, section and term.
- Select the checkbox beside the student’s name in the Brightspace Classlist.
- Select Unenroll.
- Select Yes to confirm.
- Return to the Classlist and verify that the student was removed.
Before removing a student: Unenrolling a student removes their access to course materials, assignments, grades and feedback. Always verify the official Anthology Student roster first.

Contact Technology Support if the rosters do not match and you cannot confidently correct the Brightspace enrollment, or if the official Anthology Student roster appears incorrect.
Include:
- Course name and section
- Academic term
- Student’s full name and ID, if available
- Whether the student needs to be added or removed
- Screenshots of both rosters, if possible
Do not change the Anthology Student roster simply to make it match Brightspace. Anthology Student remains the official system of record.
