New Account Information 

Account for: Michael Tester 

Welcome to Chatham University! A new account has been set up, granting you access to essential University resources like Microsoft 365 and the Intranet at my.Chatham.edu. Please remember, ITS will never request your account details, such as your username, password, or any other sensitive information, via email. 

 

Username / Email address: M.Tester@Chatham.edu 
Temporary password: 2e@B3[7dAjO (upper and lower case MUST match).

You are responsible for protecting your account from unauthorized use. For security reasons, you must set up your multi-factor authentication settings at first logon. Please login from a computer. 

To protect your account from unauthorized use, please set up your multi-factor authentication during your first login. For security reasons, make sure to log in from a computer not a mobile device. 

 

FIRST LOGIN AND CHANGE PASSWORD 

Go to https://login.microsoftonline.com and enter your e-mail address, M.Tester@chatham.edu, and password 2e@B3[7dAjO. You will need to setup multi-factor authentication. Below is a detailed guide through this process. 

 

  1. You will be presented with a login screen. Please put in your full email address and temporary password. Click next.

  1. Once you enter your temporary password, you will be prompted to enter a new password. Your password needs to be a minimum of 10 characters including at least 1 uppercase letter, 1 lowercase letter and 1 special character.

  1. You will be asked to setup account security. Please do not click skip, please click Next. If you click on Skip for now, you will be prompted to fill this information out within 14 days. This could result in your account getting locked.

  1. Microsoft requires you to use an authenticator application. An authenticator application is a software tool used to enhance security of your online accounts. It generates time-based one-time passcodes (TOTP) that you use alongside your regular login credentials (username and password) to verify your identity. Microsoft has its own authentication app, but you can use any authentication app. Below, we will use the Microsoft Authenticator App. Click Next.

  1. Use the Microsoft Authenticator app to scan the QR code. If you are having issues, you can click on the link I want to setup a different method. This will walk you through setting up the app without scanning the QR code.

In the Microsoft Authenticator app, choose Work or school account. Follow the instructions on the app.

  1. Once you get the app setup, follow the instructions to do your first authentication test.

  1. The second part of the authentication process is verifying your phone numberYou will receive a call or text message with a verification code to complete the setup. Choose Receive a code, and you will receive a text message with a code to put into the screen. Click Next.
