Request to Merge Courses in Brightspace

This form allows faculty to request that multiple Brightspace course sections be combined into a single, primary course shell. Course merging is often used when an instructor teaches multiple sections of the same course and prefers to manage content, grades, and communications in one central location.

When submitting your request, please include:

  • Primary Course: The Brightspace course shell that will remain active after the merge (destination course).

  • Secondary Courses: All additional course shells that should be merged into the primary one.

  • Additional Notes (optional): Any relevant information about timing, content setup, or special considerations.

Important Notes:

  • Merging courses in Brightspace cannot be undone once completed.

  • After the merge, all enrollments from the secondary courses will be moved into the primary course.

  • Verify that no existing student activities or grades are in the course before submitting this request.

  • You’ll receive a confirmation once the merge is complete and available in your Brightspace dashboard.
