How to Create a Video Note in Brightspace

Overview

This article explains how to use Video Note in your online classes. A Video Note is a video that is recorded and added using Insert Stuff in Brightspace. A Video Note can be either an uploaded video or one created directly using a computer webcam. This enables sharing information anywhere Brightspace Editor is available. This is often used for course introductions.

 

Instructions

Add (create) a Video Note Using Brightspace Editor

You can use Add Video Note to record videos and add them anywhere Brightspace Editor is available.

  1. Navigate to the specific area in your course where you want to add a video note (Assignments, Discussions, Quizzes, etc.)
  2. Within Brightspace Editor, click Insert Stuff.Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  3. In the Insert Stuff dialog, click Add Video Note. Ensure that you allow Brightspace to access your device’s camera and microphone.
  4. A new window will open. Click on Video Note.Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  5. In the Record Webcam tab, toggle the Audio only button to switch between an audio-video recording and an audio-only recording.
  6. Click New Recording, and to end recording, click Stop Recording.
  7. Review the content and click Next.Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  8. Enter a Title, Description, and select an Audio Language.
  9. Click Next.
  10. Click Insert.

Your video note is inserted into Brightspace Editor.

 

Search For and Add Existing Video Notes

  1. Navigate to the specific area where you want to reuse an existing video note.
  2. In Brightspace Editor, click Insert Stuff.
  3. In the Insert Stuff dialog, click Video Note Search.Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  4. ​​​​​​​Enter your search terms in the Search Notes field, then click Search. You can also perform a blank search to see all search results
  5. Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)​​​​​​​Select the video note you want to reuse and click Next.
  6. You can preview the video note before inserting and reusing it.
  7. Click Insert.
