Using YuJa Panorama in Brightspace

YuJa Panorama lets you open your course files in the format that works best for you—audio, ebook, translated text, and more—and adjust how Brightspace looks and reads.

What is YuJa Panorama?

Panorama is an accessibility tool built into your Brightspace courses. You don’t need to install anything or request access—it’s available to every student. Use it to:

  • Listen to readings as audio while you commute or exercise.
  • Read a course file on an e-reader or translate it into another language.
  • Increase contrast, change fonts, or adjust spacing so pages are easier to read.
Good to know Panorama is for everyone, not only students with documented accommodations. If a different format helps you study, use it.

Open the video on YouTube (captions available).

Download a file in an alternative format

  1. In your Brightspace course, go to Content and find the document you want.
  2. Select the Alternative Formats icon to the right of the document title.
  3. Choose a format from the list (see the table below for help choosing).
  4. Open the file in your browser or download it to your device.
Don’t see the icon, or is it grayed out? Instructors can turn off Alternative Formats for specific files. If you need a file in another format, contact your instructor or Chatham’s accessibility services office.

Which format should I choose?

Format Best for
Audio Podcast Listening to a reading instead of (or while) reading it.
Immersive Reader Reading along with audio and customizing text size, spacing, and grammar highlights.
Gradient Reader Easier line tracking—color gradients guide your eyes from one line to the next.
Enhanced HTML Reading in your browser with adjustable display settings.
EPUB Reading on an e-reader or ebook app.
PDF Viewing online or downloading to print or annotate.
Text File Plain text with no formatting—useful for screen readers or note-taking.
Braille Grade 2 braille, for use with a braille reader.
Language Translation Automatically translating the document into one of 100+ languages.
Source File Downloading the original file exactly as your instructor uploaded it.
Working with a scanned document or image? (OCR formats)

OCR formats turn scanned pages and images into readable, searchable text. Options include OCR Overlaid Tagged PDF, OCR Reconstructed DOCX, OCR Reconstructed Tagged PDF, OCR Reconstructed HTML, OCR Text, OCR Audio, OCR Semantic Text, and OCR Semantic Audio.

Working with math or equations?

Math formats include LaTeX, Math Text, Math Audio, and MathML, so equations can be read aloud or used with assistive technology.
