How to Create a Voice-Over PowerPoint (PPT)

Overview

Record a voice-over for a PowerPoint (PPT) presentation using the Slideshow recording feature, and export it as a video file.

 

Instructions

Record a Presentation

Use the recording tools in the Record tab in the ribbon or select the Record button to get started.

Your presentation notes are shown as text at the top of the screen to use as a teleprompter when you record.

When recording a presentation, the microphone and camera can be turned on or off by toggling the icons.

In the Select the camera mode menu, there are options to Show Background or Blur Background.

The layout can be changed in the Views menu to switch between Teleprompter, Presenter view, or Slide View.

Recording

  1. Select recording and a countdown will begin.
  2. Use the onscreen laser, colored pens, or highlighters in the tray below markup slides and they will record as well.
  3. To record narration for a specific slide, use the previous or next arrows.
  4. Pause the recording as needed or select Stop when done.
  5. Select the Play button to review the video.
  6. Select Delete to delete and re-record the video on the current or all slides. Clear will delete the recorded narration. Reset to Cameo replaces the recorded narration with the camera feed for an easy retake.Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  7. When finished, select Export > Export Video.
  8. The video can be viewed by selecting View and share video.
